This sparked an idea, and he called ICEY, his producer, to remake the beat so that he could get a feel for it.

For 146Bank, the phrase “Run The Trap” entails leadership, responsibility, and control. The role of Top Dawg means having to make decisions, taking care of one’s business, and ensuring the operations run as planned. “Run The Trap basically means when you’re Top Dawg, you’re the one calling the shots,” says 146Bank. “You have to make sure that your business is doing alright, all the books are straight, and your ROI is correct.”

This sort of attitude runs through the single. 146Bank wants listeners to hear it and immediately feel a shift in their own confidence. He hopes that listeners leave feeling like they can walk into a room carrying themselves with their chest out and chin up.

A Sound Derived From Experience

The sense of confidence that 146Bank carries as a rapper doesn’t necessarily come from his creation of music. His confidence, he explains, stems from his experiences growing up, including spending time in trap houses, youth detention centers, and state and federal prisons. “Everything is from the heart,” he says. “My lyrics are from my everyday life, from growing up in the hood since I was a youngin, to becoming a seasoned vet in these streets as an OG.”
