2 Chainz apologized after his restaurant-service debate with Keith Lee, saying he had spoken to the food critic and regretted offending people.
The rapper shared the apology on social media on November 3. He said his words had failed to convey what he meant. He also said he and Lee had spoken after the show and described a friendly conversation.
“I know my words offended some people and I apologize for that,” 2 Chainz said. “What I said and what I meant were two different things.”
The response followed a disagreement on Kirk Franklin’s “Den of Kings” over how restaurants treated famous guests. As AllHipHop previously reported, 2 Chainz defended the perks that came with celebrity and pointed to airport lines as another place where stars received different treatment.
“I’m an entertainer, and obviously we get perks that other people don’t get. That’s just period, my boy,” he said during the discussion.
Lee explained why he sent relatives into restaurants before arriving himself: he wanted to judge the experience a regular paying customer would receive. His method focused on service before a business knew a widely followed food critic was involved.
That concern had already shaped Lee’s Atlanta visits. In 2023, his family faced a 90-minute wait at Old Lady Gang, but the restaurant offered him a seat once staff recognized him. Lee left rather than take the table after his relatives were told to wait.
The “Den of Kings” episode was recorded live at Clark Atlanta University. Comedians Desi Banks and Mojo Brookzz joined Franklin, Lee and 2 Chainz for a conversation that included restaurant reviews, celebrity service and the responsibility that came with influence.
For 2 Chainz, the subject also touched on his own business. In an October 29 interview with Haute Living, he singled out Esco as the venture that best reflected his taste.
He described a gathering place where a meal and music were part of the same social experience, with an emphasis on putting guests at ease.
“I think hospitality is a big part of business. Make people feel comfortable, build real relationships, and the opportunities usually come from there,” 2 Chainz said.
