20-y-o dies in Clarendon bike crash

CLARENDON, Jamaica — A motorcyclist succumbed to injuries he sustained in a crash on the Fearon main road near Spalding in north-west Clarendon Sunday morning.
He has been identified as Caylon Barnes, 20, a resident of Lodgie Green district in Clarendon.
A police report said that about 1:20 am, Barnes was driving his 2023 grey missile CG200 motorcycle on the Fearon main road heading towards Sanguinetti when he lost control and crashed into a concrete perimeter wall.
Barnes sustained injuries to his head and leg, and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Statistics from the police show that up to 6:00 am Sunday, there have been 258 fatalities from 223 crashes on the nation’s roads this year compared to 298 fatalities from 261 crashes for the corresponding period in 2025.
Although the Fearon main road is in Clarendon, the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Manchester police division.
The incident is also being investigated by the police Area Three Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit.
