A major new power generation project is moving ahead in Abaco, with the first phase of the approximately $90 million development expected to begin supplying electricity to the island’s grid in November.

The project, being developed through a partnership between Bahamas Power and Light and EA Energy, will combine solar generation, natural gas-powered generation and battery storage in what the government says will be the first hybrid solar and LNG power plant in The Bahamas.
