Argentina’s “Big N#gga Burgers” Is Not A Vibe With Racial & Hip-Hop Implications

Big Nigga Burgers.

Read that three time. This place has become an international controversy after an Argentine restaurant’s unusual, presumably racist name caught the attention of America. And somehow they credit Hip-Hop culture for the inspiration.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, somebody actually named a burger joint “Big Nigga Burgers.” And apparently, the owners are surprised that people have something to say about it.

The establishment is located in Llavallol, Buenos Aires, Argentina and owned by Jackie and Franco. The all started around 2020. Their specialty? Smash burgers featuring black buns, double beef patties, cheddar cheese, bacon and red onions.

Sounds delicious to some. I’d never eat that. And the name is giving people indigestion.

The restaurant reportedly embraces Hip-Hop and trap music as part of its identity, but I have not completely been able to verify that. I definitely do not excuse that. Is that cultural appreciation? I don’t think we want it. Or do we?

As images and videos of the establishment circulated online, American social media users began questioning why a restaurant in Argentina would casually incorporate one of the most historically offensive words in the world into its business name.

The owners have defended their branding, explaining that the name was inspired by rap music and designed to attract attention rather than offend anyone.

“We’re just another damn burger joint in this world, but call it luck or coincidence, today there’s something that sets us apart and brings people from all over the world,” one of the owners said.

They definitely have that Argentine spirit…they don’t give a damn.

Jackie and Franco wrote:

“We won’t change or make ourselves smaller just to fit in. We know who we are.”

They continued:

“And to those who insult us or hope to see us fail: you don’t have to like us, but you’ll never stop us.”

And finished with:

“This is who we are. Jackie and Franco. Big Nigga Burgers, we’re only getting started.”

OK.

Hip-Hop is mainstream. It has traveled around the world, influencing everything from fashion and language to food and entrepreneurship. Argentina has its own Hip-Hop community, and nobody is suggesting that the country cannot participate in the culture. However, is this how y’all show appreciation.

The N-word carries centuries of racial trauma, even though some Black artists have reclaimed variations of it within specific cultural contexts. The business trivializes anti-Black racism, while the owners maintain that their intentions were never malicious.

There is some history here, y’all!

Argentina has a troubling history of anti-Black racism, including 19th-century efforts to promote European immigration, suppress Afro-Argentine identity and effectively erase Black people from the nation’s historical narrative, making the restaurant’s controversial name particularly ironic.Anti-Black racism remains a documented problem in Argentina in 2026, although its manifestations can differ from those in the United States.

Afro-Argentines continue to report racial discrimination, stereotyping, unequal treatment and the marginalization of Black people in the country’s media, institutions and historical narrative. This is 2026. I will not go farther. I know y’all don’t read this much and Chat is a pretty good friend.

For now, the restaurant has accomplished something many small businesses can only dream about. It has people around the world discussing its name. In a most disgusting way…and yet, if racism is regular and supported there…they’ll fare well.

And I’m left wondering one thing.

Would you eat there?
