Bravo greenlit “Next Gen Atlanta,” putting a new group of ambitious young adults at the center of the city’s Hip-Hop, sports and entertainment worlds.
The network announced the series October 23 ahead of Bravo Fan Fest in Charleston, South Carolina. The show will follow people with well-known family connections alongside others trying to build their own reputations. Their work, friendships and family lives will drive the series, which Blink49 Studios is producing.
Bravo has not named the cast or set a premiere date.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution had already reported that the project was in production before the network made its announcement. Its Georgia filming roundup listed the first season among productions that had started work between September 4 and mid-October.
The expansion also comes as the New York show has picked up viewers. In Deadline’s report, republished by Banijay Americas, the “Next Gen NYC” Season 2 opener reached 3 million viewers across platforms within seven days, according to NBCUniversal. That was an 86% increase over the first season’s debut.
The episode also set a Bravo record for next-day viewing on Peacock after seven days. Bravo renewed “Next Gen NYC” for a third season, and production had begun, Deadline reported.
Bravo’s wider announcement also included renewals for “Southern Hospitality,” which will return for Season 5, and “In The City,” which earned a second season.
The New York series has included Riley Burruss, daughter of Kandi Burruss, and Ariana Biermann, daughter of Kim Zolciak-Biermann. Both families have ties to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
In August, “Next Gen NYC” cast member Gia Giudice, Teresa Giudice’s daughter, told Us Weekly that Season 2 spent more time on the group’s personal lives and work than the show’s first season.
Bravo’s relationship with Atlanta’s music stars goes back years.
As AllHipHop previously reported, the network brought SWV and Xscape together for the six-part “SWV & Xscape: Queens Of R&B” in 2023.
That show grew out of the groups’ 2021 Verzuz matchup. Xscape had also appeared on Bravo in “Xscape Still Kickin’ It,” while Kandi Burruss had a long run on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
