Burna Boy and Davido shook hands at Zlatan Ibile’s bachelor party in Lagos, bringing the two Afrobeats stars together after years of public tension.
The greeting took place at a nightclub, according to Pulse Nigeria. The outlet reported that footage showed the singers shaking hands during the celebration ahead of Zlatan’s wedding to Davita Lamai.
The handshake prompted talk of a truce, but neither singer had addressed the encounter.
Zlatan has worked with both men. Davido appeared on the rapper’s “Osanle” in November 2018, a Fresh VDM production. Zlatan and Burna Boy followed with the video for “Killin Dem” in January 2019.
“Killin Dem” earned Best Collabo at the 2019 Headies and appeared on Burna Boy’s “African Giant” album. Kel P produced the track. The official video below comes from that earlier collaboration.
Burna Boy and Davido’s own relationship also stretched back well before the public disputes. Davido said the two met in 2010. He recalled spending time with Burna Boy before they were well known and said he had rooted for his success.
“Burna Boy and I are brothers,” Davido said.

Davido also denied that his song “FEM” was aimed specifically at Burna Boy. Listeners had connected the record to their dispute because it used Odogwu, a name associated with Burna Boy. He described the mention as an invitation for Burna Boy to call him and join him at a party.
That interview also showed how frustrated Davido had become with the dispute. He said he had tried to talk with Burna Boy several times and maintained that he had never tried to discredit him.
Burna Boy later said the two had settled their differences in a post.
“FYI, I have no issues with David. We good now,” he wrote. Burna Boy also called for people to show each other love as they headed into 2022.
Zlatan and Lamai’s wedding is scheduled for Saturday, October 24.
