Carmelo Anthony, La La Reportedly Reach Divorce Settlement After 9 Years

Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony have reportedly taken a major step toward closing a divorce case that has stretched on for more than nine years.

According to court records cited by TMZ, the former couple informed the court that they had reached a settlement.

The available report did not disclose the terms or say that a judge had entered a final divorce judgment.

That distinction matters. A reported settlement can resolve the issues between the parties, but it is not the same as confirmation that the marriage has been legally dissolved.

For now, the supported development is that Carmelo and La La appear to have worked out an agreement after a long-running case.

La La filed for divorce in June 2021 after 11 years of marriage. The filing followed years of strain.

They separated in 2017, appeared to reconcile in 2018 and later moved toward ending the marriage. They share a son, Kiyan Anthony.

By the time La La filed, she had already been living with the emotional fallout of the separation for years.

During a 2021 appearance on “The Angie Martinez Show,” she described the split as painful and public while saying she and Carmelo had reached a good place as co-parents.

She also sounded deeply uncertain about marrying again.

“Marriage, I don’t think I can do that ever again. I mean, some amazing person would have to come. I don’t see that happening again,” La La said.

The timeline helps explain why the reported settlement is significant. The public divorce filing came four years after their first separation, and the case then remained unresolved for more than five additional years.

Their ability to co-parent amicably did not mean the legal process had reached its end.

The divorce was still part of La La’s public conversation days before the settlement report.

Neither the limited settlement report nor the available court-record summary provided financial terms, parenting terms or a date for a final judgment.

It also did not include a new public statement from Carmelo or La La.

That leaves the case’s final status unclear, even with an agreement reportedly in place.

What the new report does show is movement in a case that had remained open since La La’s 2021 filing.

Until a final judgment is confirmed, the settlement should be described as a reported agreement, not a completed divorce.
