Catholic priest dies after wooden cross falls on him during mass

A Catholic priest died on Saturday in Ecuador after a large wooden cross reportedly fell on him as he led a mass that was being live-streamed. According to a report by NDTV World, Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari was addressing a congregation at the Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Church in Guayaquil when the crucifix came down on him. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The Archdiocese of Guayaquil has also confirmed Father Sanchez Molinari's death in a social media post. "We announce that our beloved Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari, CSsR., who served as parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in the Central Vicariate, has departed for the Father's House to rejoice in His presence and glory," they were quoted as saying by NDTV World. "Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen."
