Charlamagne Tha God Joins Wallo For Public Justice Reform Gathering

Charlamagne Tha God is returning to Roc Nation’s justice summit with a free event linking attendees to groups pushing for reform.

The Breakfast Club co-host joins the fourth United Justice Coalition Summit on October 17 at The Shed in New York City.

The free event puts mental health advocates alongside people working on policing, prison conditions and the barriers people face after leaving prison.

Charlamagne’s involvement connects those issues to work he has pursued through his Mental Wealth Alliance and his public discussions about therapy.

His book Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me helped make his own struggles with anxiety part of his public life beyond Hip-Hop radio.

In a 2021 interview, Charlamagne described how learning to name his symptoms changed his understanding of mental health.

“Once you get the language, that helps to normalize it and helps you feel normal,” he told Forbes.

The alliance now focuses on expanding access to care for Black communities, supporting education and helping train more Black mental health professionals.

Charlamagne has already brought that work to UJC, moderating a 2025 discussion about using mental health teams in responses to crisis calls.

That earlier panel examined ways to provide care while reducing arrests and force, placing treatment within the broader debate about public safety.

This year’s speakers include psychiatrist Dr. Jessica Clemons and Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren, who founded Broward County’s mental health court in Florida.

REFORM Alliance CEO Jessica Jackson and Wallo are also confirmed, adding voices from justice advocacy and Hip-Hop to the day’s discussions.

The exhibition space gives attendees another way to get involved through direct contact with groups working on legal help, education and reentry.

Organizers say more than 40 groups will participate, including the Innocence Project, REFORM Alliance and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

That access is central to the summit’s stated goal of helping attendees find ways to act on justice issues in their communities.

The coalition’s event site offers registration as organizers prepare to announce more speakers and the full program.

Charlamagne also hosts a separate free Mental Wealth Expo October 10 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.

Doors for the UJC Summit open at 10 a.m. Eastern on October 17, with admission free to the public.
