Charles Hamilton Has A Return Date, But Is A Bigger Comeback Coming?

Charles Hamilton is giving the comeback chatter an actual address. Remember bro? I do!
The rapper is scheduled to perform at SOB’s in New York on November 10, his birthday, for “The Night of The Pink Lavalamp.” So, for anybody wondering whether this return is just another social media whisper, there is a venue, a ticket page and a reason to put on shoes. That is progress!
The evening centers on The Pink Lavalamp with the album’s music and story hitting the stage. SOB’s also hosted Charles’ first New York headline show back in the day, which gives this particular booking some emotional weight. As many of our hardcore fans know…we love SOBs!
For those who remember discovering music through blogs, downloads and somebody insisting their favorite rapper was about to change everything, Charles is a familiar name. The prospect of seeing him revisit this project has me curious about what comes afterward.
Will he use the occasion to introduce something new? Could this become a series of performances? Or does he simply want a birthday night with the people who still care about the music? The folks I know are talking homie is set for a comeback of epic proportions. I think he may be primed.
For now, this event celebrates 20 years since the album’s creation. The Pink Lavalamp was released in December 2008. That is comical to me, but the creation date and the release date are different dates.
I like a story where the next development might happen onstage in real time. Let me know if you go. Hip-Hop spends plenty of time debating who fell off. Sometimes it is worth showing up to hear what somebody has left to say.
Charles Hamilton has November 10. Let’s see what follows.
