Chris Brown Admonished By Judge & Sentenced Over London Nightclub Attack

Chris Brown arrived at London’s Southwark Crown Court on Monday, October 26, where he was sentenced in the nightclub attack case.

The singer stood before the judge, who admonished the singer and said “your fame doesn’t entitle you to special treatment.” He was then handed an eight-month suspended sentence,

Fans had lined up outside from about 7 A.M. GMT, with some carrying merchandise, before the courthouse opened.

The singer, 37, pleaded guilty to affray on July 24, along with his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu. Both men were due to be sentenced for that offense.

The guilty pleas came with prosecutors dropping the other charges: assault, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. The two men had previously denied the more serious assault allegations before admitting affray.

The charge covered violence, or threats of violence, that would cause someone of reasonable firmness at the scene to fear for their safety.

That offense carried a maximum prison term of three years.

The case centered on Abraham Diaw, a music producer who was attacked at Tape London in Mayfair during the early hours of February 19, 2023.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Brown moved through the crowd from the dance floor and hit Diaw twice in the head with a glass bottle. Prosecutors said Akinlolu then joined him and punched Diaw in the head.

The attack continued as Diaw tried to get away through the club, according to the CPS. Diaw was also kicked while sitting on the floor and later received treatment at St. Mary’s Hospital for injuries to his head and knee.

Prosecutors had surveillance footage of the confrontation, which happened inside a crowded club in front of witnesses.

Police said both men had left Britain after the attack, and warrants were issued for their arrests. Brown was arrested at a Manchester hotel in May 2025 after flying to the city for a concert.

He secured his release on £5 million bail, which allowed him to perform in Europe and North America while the case continued.

At the July plea hearing, Judge Tony Baumgartner allowed Brown to travel outside the U.K. on bail but ordered him back by October 25, the day before sentencing.
