Chris Brown’s Former Housekeeper Seeks Arrest Warrant

Chris Brown’s former housekeeper Maria Avila sought an arrest warrant, TMZ reported, as her fight to collect $9.5 million in damages moved into another round of court proceedings.

Avila and her husband, Oscar Olivo, filed an October 7 application seeking contempt proceedings over alleged noncompliance with an August 20 order assigning Brown’s income toward the judgment.

The following day, an emergency application asked the court to enforce its September 10 order for financial examinations and document production and bring pending hearings forward.

The collection dispute continued after Cotton gave Avila a choice between a smaller award and a new trial on damages.

Avila accepted the $9.5 million on October 1. A jury had awarded her about $12.9 million after a two-week trial in June. Her lawyer, Nancy Doumanian, had argued for an $11 million award, saying nerve damage limited Avila’s ability to use her wrist and fingers for tasks such as writing and getting dressed.

The case grew out of the December 12, 2020, attack at Brown’s Tarzana home. Avila testified that she went outside to empty a vacuum bag when the dog, Hades, attacked her. She described lasting injuries to her face and arm, scars and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Brown admitted negligence before trial but disputed the extent of her injuries and argued that she shared responsibility for going outside alone. He testified that he found her on the ground, secured the dog and told security to call for help.

AllHipHop previously covered the jury’s verdict, which also included separate awards to Avila’s sister Patricia and Olivo.

The court’s calendar still lists hearings on January 20 and January 25, 2027, on the separate examination-enforcement and income-assignment contempt matters.

The hearing on the immediate enforcement request is set for October 15.
