Chris Brown Thanks Jasmine Crockett, Blasts Critics

Jasmine Crockett probably did not expect a Chris Brown and Usher concert to turn into one of the louder political controversies of her week.

The Texas congresswoman appeared at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on September 12 alongside Texas State Rep. Venton Jones and producer RoccStar. Crockett recognized Chris Brown and Usher through an entry in the Congressional Record celebrating their lengthy careers and contributions to music. Jones participated with a separate state recognition.

“Right now, we are experiencing Black joy to the highest level,” Crockett told the audience. “And I wanted to make sure we wanted to document that in the Congressional record.”

Then came the internet.

“They” questioned the decision to officially recognize Brown because of his history involving violence against women, most notably his 2009 felony assault of Rihanna, who was his girlfriend at the time. Brown pleaded guilty in that case.

Jones subsequently apologized.

“I extend my sincerest apology for the hurt, frustration, and pain my choices caused. Your trust and support are invaluable to me, and I never take lightly how my decisions impact you,” Jones said in his statement.

He also apologized specifically to Black women, women and people who have experienced domestic violence during an appearance with Don Lemon.

But Chris Brown apparently has two completely different responses for the politicians involved.

Brown thanked Crockett on social media and wrote, “Thank yo so much♥️ I apologize for any backlash you have to deal with for awarding me. I’m not political but I move off frequency and energy and I’m so grateful ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU”.

Breezy had a different frequency for Jonesy.

After Jones apologized, Brown publicly rejected his state recognition and criticized the lawmaker for reversing course. He stressed that the politicians approached him with the honor and not the other way around. He ain’t lying.

Crockett has not publicly responded to the criticism And that leaves us with questions.
