Clarendon taxi operator charged with rape of 12-y-o girl

CLARENDON, Jamaica—A Clarendon taxi operator has been charged with abduction of a child under 16, assault at common law, and rape following an incident involving a 12-year-old girl on Thursday, September 24.
He has been identified as 33-year-old Dave Thompson of Sharpe Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon.
Reports from the police are that about 3:00 pm, the child reportedly boarded Thompson’s taxi en route to May Pen. Upon reaching May Pen, Thompson allegedly held a knife to the girl’s neck. He then drove to his house where he assaulted her.
Following the incident, a report was made to the police, and the child was taken to the hospital, where she was medically examined.
On Friday, October 2, Thompson was pointed out on an identification parade by the complainant, following which he was charged.
His court date is being finalised.
