Construction worker fatally injured at SIA

ST JAMES, Jamaica—MBJ Airports Limited, operator of Sangster International Airport, says a construction worker was fatally injured during contracted steel erection work on Friday.
According to MBJ in a press release, the incident occurred on the site of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (Jamaica) Limited (CCECC) on the apron near Gate 15.
"We are heartbroken by this loss and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Our thoughts are also with his co-workers and members of our airport community who were with him at the time," MBJ said.
MBJ said it will arrange counselling and support.
"The Jamaica Constabulary Force is investigating the incident, and work on the site has been suspended. MBJ is cooperating fully with the authorities," the release said.
