Cop injured in Sligoville shooting incident dies
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Police Constable Devoney Rose, who was shot and injured during a shootout in Sligoville, St Catherine, on Friday, has died. This was confirmed by the communications arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) a short while ago. Rose was among several cops injured during the incident. Corporal Trevoy Shaw of the Special Operations Unit was pronounced dead on Friday. The Jamaica Police Federation on Friday made an urgent appeal for blood donations on behalf of Constable Rose, who was undergoing surgery at the Spanish Town Hospital. The incident began to unfold about 5:15 am on Friday when a team from the JCF’s Special Operations Unit was conducting an operation in the Five Miles area of Sligoville, St. Catherine, in search of wanted men. The cops were reportedly clearing a building on the premises when they came under gunfire from two men who had barricaded themselves inside the house among other occupants. During the exchange, a young girl who was inside the building reportedly sustained gunshot injuries. READ: Cop killed, others injured in Sligoville gun battle
