Emerging dancehall artiste D’QUEEN is looking to build on the momentum gained from a month-long tour of the United Kingdom in September, an experience she believes has opened new doors for her career and strengthened her determination to make her mark on the international music scene.
The St Catherine-born entertainer, who has been steadily working to establish herself in the competitive dancehall industry, performed at several events alongside reggae artiste Teflon and experienced the popular Leeds Carnival during her visit.
For D’QUEEN, the tour represented more than an opportunity to perform overseas, providing valuable exposure and renewed motivation to continue pursuing her musical ambitions.
“Experiencing the tour life as a female artiste, performing for my fans in the UK, going to different hotels, the food, the people, the love I received from the fans gave me the drive to push even harder in a male-dominated industry for the world to recognise D’QUEEN,” she shared.
The entertainer said the experience has already begun yielding opportunities, with interest reportedly coming from promoters in North America, Europe and Africa.
“This England tour opened a lot of doors for D’QUEEN. Now we're getting calls from America, Canada, Europe and Africa, so we're grateful for the opportunity,” she said, while expressing appreciation to her booking agent, Julie of Runabeat Celebrity Bookings, for helping to make the tour possible.
Beyond her performances, D’QUEEN also used the overseas trip to advance several recording projects, including shooting a music video for her reggae collaboration I Don't Wanna Lose You with British-based reggae artiste Bassie Clark.
She also recorded another reggae single for Black Pitch Records, which is expected to be released in 2027.
Now back in Jamaica, the entertainer has turned her attention to promoting three dancehall singles, Miss Independent, So Me Like and Toll, while preparing for additional performances and media appearances.
Among the upcoming releases is Miss Independent, produced by dancehall recording artiste Charly Black on his Unstoppable Records label. The track is scheduled for release later this month.
So Me Like, produced by Code 1 Sound, has already attracted positive feedback from female listeners in the UK, according to D’QUEEN.
Meanwhile, Toll, produced by Lampshade Muzic, is featured on the Bag A Vybz rhythm alongside recordings from several other artistes.
The entertainer said the unusual title has sparked curiosity among supporters, who have been eager to hear the finished product.
“Just the name of this single excites fans. They are asking why the name Toll and saying they can't wait to hear it,” she said.
D’QUEEN is no stranger to the local music scene, having previously released tracks including New Boyfriend, Money Elevator, First Class and Cold Hearted, the latter addressing the issue of child predators.
Following a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to music with a renewed focus, rebranding from Dee Queen to D’QUEEN as part of efforts to establish a stronger identity in the industry.
Her catalogue also includes Breathless, released in 2025, as she continues to explore opportunities to expand her audience both locally and internationally.
Looking ahead, D’QUEEN said she intends to maintain a consistent presence through radio and television interviews, live performances and music video releases.
“Coming back to Jamaica, the work never stops. We are promoting these three singles. I have interviews with radio stations and TV programmes and also shows in Jamaica, so my fans are going to see D’QUEEN more,” she said.
She added that visuals are also being planned for the three singles and encouraged supporters to remain connected through her social media platforms.
Despite the challenges of establishing herself in a male-dominated industry, the entertainer remains optimistic about her prospects, crediting her faith and the support of her team for her progress.
“If it wasn't for God, it wouldn't be possible,” she said.
As she looks towards the next chapter of her career, D’QUEEN is embracing a philosophy she believes reflects her journey so far.
