D’Yani urges fans to ‘Live Life and Prosper’ at album launch

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae and dancehall artiste D’Yani unveiled his highly anticipated album, LLAP — Live Life & Prosper, during an intimate launch event at 105 Water Lane in downtown Kingston in August, presenting a body of work he describes as a reflection of life’s struggles, victories and lessons. Surrounded by industry colleagues, friends and supporters, D’Yani introduced an album that goes beyond a collection of songs. LLAP serves as his musical diary — an honest account of struggle, heartbreak, triumph and the lessons gathered along an often-demanding road. “My aspiration for this project is just basically to make sure people appreciate life, appreciate the little things, be grateful for the small things and be grateful for the big things,” D’Yani told the audience. “Just be grateful overall, and live life and prosper ultimately.” That philosophy pulses through Live A Little, the contemplative 2023 single that became one of his biggest successes. D’Yani said the song arrived unexpectedly during a trip to the river, where he realised that his relentless pursuit of productivity was beginning to exact a heavy toll. “I was at the river, stressed out. I worked too hard and tried to be too productive, and the song just popped up, honestly,” he recalled. “That’s how the song was really created.” Produced by Kareem “Remus” Burrell, Live A Little has since amassed more than 18 million streams across digital platforms. Burrell, the son of legendary Xterminator Records founder Phillip “Fatis” Burrell, has forged a potent partnership with D’Yani—one rapidly developing into an intriguing story in Jamaican music. Their chemistry again shines on Journey, another standout track from the album. As its title suggests, the song is an unvarnished reflection on growth, resilience, heartbreak, triumph and the experiences that shape a person along the way. “Journey is a very personal song for me,” D’Yani said. “It came from real-life experiences—the ups, the downs, the growth, the losses, the blessings, everything that shapes you along the way. I wasn’t trying to force a story. I was simply speaking my truth.” That honesty has become one of D’Yani’s most compelling qualities. Rather than manufacturing emotion for effect, he digs into his own experiences and transforms them into music that feels intimate, vulnerable and immediately relatable. The deeply personal approach runs throughout LLAP, whose songs he describes as different “aspects and capsules” of his life. Producers shape the sonic identity of a record, guiding artists through arrangements, tones, and performances. Burrell believes D'Yani is pretty much a finished product. "D'Yani has a marvelous ability to convey major emotions through his music with a blinding honesty and warmth that captures listeners," Burrell said. Other standout tracks on the album include Prayed For, where D’Yani captures the fulfilment of one of his deepest ambitions: touring internationally and performing before an audience of approximately 70,000 people. The spiritually charged Jah Has Been Too Good, meanwhile, finds him reflecting on divine intervention and the trials he believes God helped him overcome. Those intensely personal themes demanded patience. D’Yani refused to rush the album, insisting that every lyric, melody and production decision had to meet his standards before the project could be released. “We take music seriously,” he explained, adding that words carry tremendous weight and that his creative process remains rooted in spirituality, mental discipline and meticulous production. Rather than hoping listeners select one track and discard the rest, D’Yani wants audiences to absorb LLAP as a complete body of work and emerge with a renewed appreciation for life. “Hope, gratitude, love and life—appreciation of life,” he said. “That’s all and nothing more.” D’Yani is preparing to take the project overseas, with appearances planned for Canada, New York, Los Angeles and other destinations. Fans can also expect the LLAP 2027 Tour, which is slated to carry the album’s message across Europe, the Caribbean, the Americas and the United Kingdom. For now, however, his mission remains refreshingly simple: celebrate the small victories, give thanks for the major milestones and resist becoming so consumed by ambition that life itself passes unnoticed.
