Grammy-winning producer Detail is due back in a Los Angeles courtroom on February 19 as his sexual assault case moves into a seventh year without a trial.
Noel Christopher Fisher has remained in Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department custody since his August 5, 2020 arrest. He now faces 29 charges involving multiple alleged victims, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
Detail has pleaded not guilty. The next hearing follows a defense effort to challenge the case earlier this year.
Judge Larry Fidler rejected a motion from attorney Andrew Flier arguing that Detail’s previous counsel had been ineffective and questioning whether the evidence supported sending some counts to trial.
One sexual battery count was dismissed, leaving the remaining charges in place.
Prosecutors opposed further delays. In a filing cited by the Signal, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office described “numerous acts of sexual abuse against multiple victims who have been waiting for years for the resolution of this case.”
The allegations span 2010 through 2018. When the case was first filed in 2020, prosecutors accused Detail of assaults involving six women between the ages of 18 and 31 at the time of the alleged incidents.
The original charges included forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sodomy by force, assault and false imprisonment by violence.
The criminal complaint later expanded as additional women came forward.
Detail was held to answer after a 2021 preliminary hearing. His defense has since changed attorneys and sought more time to review a large record that includes multiple alleged victims, witnesses outside the United States and extensive digital material.
The producer has been held while the case proceeds. His work before the arrest included Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s “Drunk In Love,” Lil Wayne’s “How To Love,” Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz” and records with Nicki Minaj, Future and Jennifer Lopez.
AllHipHop reported on his arrest in 2020.
A separate civil case produced a $15 million default judgment for Kristina Buch in 2019 after she accused Detail of rape and physical abuse. An appellate panel later upheld that judgment. The criminal prosecution remains pending, with Fisher’s next appearance now set for February 19.
