Diddy’s Case Overturned?

They say Hip-Hop is dead. They say Hip-Hop journalism is dead. Then why’d we spend half the night making sure on this Diddy chatter?
Let me put this one to bed before it grows legs. Y’all be falling for anything from anybody. We know Diddy’s case is on appeal. I am not the news people – and yet, I say on it.
Diddy has not had his criminal case overturned, despite a rumor currently ricocheting around social media. So corny. And yet – it was a rumor. This is where is gets a bit complicated.
Sean “Diddy” Combs did not win his appeal. His convictions have not been thrown out. He has not suddenly been exonerated. And, perhaps most importantly, he has not been ordered released from federal prison. That simply did not happen. Nope.
Here’s what we non-journalists know.
Diddy’s attorneys appealed his conviction and 50 month prison sentence after a Manhattan jury found him guilty in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The same jury acquitted him of the far more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
His appeal eventually reached a three judge panel of the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which heard oral arguments on April 9, 2026. His lawyers challenged both the convictions and the sentence, including whether the trial judge improperly considered conduct connected to charges for which Diddy had been acquitted.
Shall we continue?
The appellate judges asked some pointed questions during those arguments. But asking tough questions is not going to make for an appeal. The panel did not announce a decision at the hearing. The appeal was taken under consideration and that is about what we have left.
We talked to sources, checked all the “things” and we found nothing to indicate that any judge – not even God – has reversed Diddy’s convictions. As far as we know Diddy is still in the “hole” at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey while his appeal is outstanding.
Could Diddy eventually receive some appellate relief? YEAH. This is ongoing and his lawyers are fighting for precisely that. Any number of things can happen.
But that is tomorrow’s news.
Today’s Rumor Buster is simple: Diddy’s case has NOT been overturned.
The internet overturned it off of a tweet.
The court did not.
