Darryl “DMC” McDaniels was involved in a freeway accident in Los Angeles, his management confirmed to AllHipHop. His representative said everyone involved is OK.
The founding member of Run-DMC was seen standing and speaking with fire department personnel in video obtained by AllHipHop. The footage came from a person livestreaming from the roadside following the reported collision with a garbage truck near Interstate 105 and South Hoover Street.
“Yes he’s okay, they got into a accident on the freeway but everyone is okay,” a representative for DMC told AllHipHop.
An observer also said it did not appear that anyone was seriously hurt. Authorities have not provided additional details about the circumstances or cause of the crash.
McDaniels helped establish Run-DMC alongside Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons and the late Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell, becoming one of the most influential groups in Hip-Hop history.
