Doechii Drops ‘Bombs’ Swamp Session As Debut Album Work Continues

Doechii dropped “Bombs,” a new Swamp Sessions video, while she continues work on her debut album.

The 95-second clip arrived on her official YouTube channel with Doechii also taking the director’s credit.

Interscope Capitol confirmed that she is sharing the sessions with fans as the album remains in progress.

The drop adds to a series that had been billed as complete.

When Doechii released “girl, get up.” with SZA in December 2025, the label called it the final Swamp Sessions song.

“Bombs” puts another entry under that name while the full-length takes shape.

The format grew out of a need to get past the pressure of making a hit.

In a 2024 interview with PAPER, Doechii said chasing another success on the scale of “What It Is” had drained the joy from making music.

The sessions helped her focus on what she wanted to express, rather than what might work on radio.

She set a one-hour limit for writing a song, then shared what came out of it.

The point was to build trust in her own ideas without endlessly polishing them for someone else’s approval.

“It’s just an exercise I use as a writer to get out of my head and get into the present moment,” she said.

The exercise had roots in her earlier work.

Doechii told PAPER she had used the same method for “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake,” and posting the results helped build her confidence.

She also credited her TDE peers with encouraging her to tell her own story instead of trying to meet an outside standard.

That freedom fed into Alligator Bites Never Heal, her 2024 mixtape.

Doechii described the choice to release a mixtape as a way around the pressure tied to a debut album.

It let her share a full project without carrying all those expectations into the studio.

For the album, she has also tried setting limits on the sound itself. In a July 2025 British Vogue interview, she described testing 1990s-inspired drum sounds and a less polished vocal approach. She also used boundaries around which subjects she would address to help turn loose ideas into songs.

“I make those ideas come to life once I give myself restriction,” she said.

The announcement for “Bombs” does not include an album title or release date.
