Drake Gets Surprise Jeff Ross Birthday Roast

Drake’s birthday wish kind of came true when Roastmaster General Jeff Ross surprised him with a roast in Houston.
Ross shared a selfie from the celebration on Instagram Stories. Drake reposted it and called the comic “The F–king General.” The roast footage had not yet appeared online.
The rapper had asked for a different comic in September. After seeing Jim Carrey roast Ross, Drake commented, “Wow this is now all I want for my birthday.”
Carrey’s video marked Ross’ 61st birthday on September 13. The actor joked about Ross’ looks, cast him as an ugly baby and worked a nondisclosure agreement into the gag. Ross welcomed the treatment.
He shared the video with his followers and asked them to add their own insults in the comments.
That exchange put Ross in the position of receiving the kind of jokes he usually tells. His celebrity targets have included Justin Bieber, Tom Brady and Joan Rivers.
He also produced and appeared in Comedy Central’s “Roast Battle,” which ran for three seasons and later aired in other countries.
The Houston stop followed Drake’s New York birthday party, where more than 400 guests gathered and the Backstreet Boys performed.
For Ross, roasting has stretched beyond a guest spot at a star’s party. He teamed with Dave Attell for Netflix’s “Bumping Mics” and created “Historical Roasts,” a six-episode series that applied the format to historical figures.
His solo show, “Take A Banana For The Ride,” brought him to Broadway and later Netflix. That show made Ross himself the subject. He talked about his family and the friends he had lost, including Bob Saget, Norm Macdonald and Gilbert Gottfried.
