Drake’s Dissing Somebody On “Ya Hit,” But Who?

Drake sounds ready to send somebody’s unfinished album straight to the clearance rack on “Ya Hit.”
The Toronto rapper appears on Future’s newly released single alongside Travis Scott and Loe Shimmy. The record arrived November 6, giving Hip-Hop a substantial reunion to discuss before anybody even starts examining the lyrics.
Naturally, I have questions about the lyrics.
“Your album ain’t gettin’ no better,” Drake raps. The target is unidentified. So now we have a mystery.
Imagine spending months adjusting the drums, replacing features and debating cover art, only for somebody to suggest the problem is the album itself. That is remarkably impolite.
But who deserves that review? Not Kendrick.
There is no answer. We certainly can assume a few people, however I’ll refrain from naming names. A familiar grudge makes this too easy. Drake could be addressing somebody specific. He could also be delivering competitive rap talk with enough ambiguity to keep everybody guessing. Maybe it’s only a Sucker MC.
Personally, I find the setting almost as intriguing as the jab. Future has Drake and Travis on the same release, and the temptation is to treat that musical reunion as a complete explanation of their relationships. A song can tell us they worked together. This reunion is overshadowed by the mysteries.
That is especially worth remembering when listeners start assigning enemies to an unnamed target. A collaboration confirms a collaboration. The rest needs its own receipts.
Still, the album reference gives this particular line some bite. Drake is questioning somebody’s judgment about their own work, which feels more dismissive than a routine boast about being the best. My reading? He sounds less interested in a lengthy argument than in telling somebody to stop asking for another extension.
For now, AllHipHop fans have a new record and an unresolved question. Enjoy the reunion, examine the verse and keep the theories labeled.
