E-40 backed the Golden State Valkyries on Instagram ahead of the WNBA Finals, while Too $hort and LaRussell prepared to join the team’s title run. The two rappers have roles in Game 2 on Monday night at Chase Center.
Last week, E-40 shared a reel with the Valkyries and Chase Center. The black-and-white clip mixed game footage with a courtside shot of the rapper. He exchanged a fist bump near the court.
“Tell us when to go. The Finals start tomorrow. See you there, Yay Area,” the caption read.

E-40 also attended Golden State’s October 9 win over the Aces in Las Vegas, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The win clinched a Finals berth for a team in just its second year.
Too $hort has made the team part of his playoff plans, too. He praised its fans in a Sports Illustrated interview published after Saturday’s opener. He put the noise at Chase Center above the crowds at Warriors games.
“They’re not lying, like Ballhalla is louder. The fans are more intense,” he told the outlet.
E-40’s caption played off “Tell Me When To Go,” his 2006 track with Keak da Sneak.
Too $hort’s role has gone beyond hearing his own hits in the stands. He played halftime at Golden State’s first home playoff game in September. He has gone to every home playoff game since, Sports Illustrated reported.
For Monday’s Game 2, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Too $hort was set to handle the pregame drum. Vallejo’s LaRussell was booked for halftime. Larry June played that slot at Saturday’s opener.
The three rappers share roots in the Bay’s sound. AllHipHop covered their roles in the 2023 podcast series “Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement.” It traced the music, dance, slang and car culture that shaped the scene.
The Finals also changed the city’s rap calendar. Chase Center moved Doja Cat’s show with Latto from October 19 to October 25. The venue’s event page tied the move to Golden State’s Finals berth.
The Valkyries enter Game 2 up 1-0. They beat the Atlanta Dream 68-64 on October 17, led by Gabby Williams’ 26 points. The team’s official preview lists Monday’s tipoff at 5 P.M. Pacific, or 8 P.M. Eastern. USA Network and Peacock will carry the game.
