Eminem’s Kid Rock Collabo Has People Angry

Eminem just walked directly into America’s political mess, and Kid Rock and a Christian album are responsible. First of all…a Christian album?

Kid Rock’s forthcoming Christian rock album, Halfway 2 Jesus, includes Eminem on a song called “7 Sins.” When the tracklist initially surfaced, some Eminem fans apparently thought somebody had discovered Photoshop and decided to cause chaos. Nope. Eminem’s definitely on the record. This is what they call “ICK.”

And now people are arguing. Podcasters are going at it. And, while have an issue with the liberal use of Christianity, the bigger controversy is politics. I mean, I think Kid Rock is a devil. That is besides the point.

Kid Rock has become one of Donald Trump’s most valuable players. Eminem has occupied almost the exact opposite political universe! He has blasted Trump and even came to a Kamala Harris campaign rally in Detroit in 2024. So, he’s one of us. Right?

So, why is Em working with this pos? Apparently, friendship. Kid Rock explained the collaboration in the album’s foreword:

“We differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all… We hope that sets an example for people who’ve lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently.” Man, shut up. ICE shot a white lady in the face and you support that. I’m not feeling it.

Eminem and Kid Rock have a relationship that stretches back decades. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock’s 1998 album Devil Without a Cause on “F#ck Off,” years before he was the bane of our existence. Kid Rock later appeared in Eminem’s “Berzerk” video.

Still, some clearly believe political convictions should influence artistic associations. I do. Some see two longtime friends refusing to allow presidential politics to dictate their personal relationship. That’s their business, but Em is losing fans over this. It feels like a betrayal.

Can Eminem despise Trump politically and still make music with somebody who loves Trump? Of course he can. The better question is whether fans who invested emotionally in Eminem’s political positions feel differently. They are gone, trust me.

And then there is “7 Sins” itself. I don’t GAF about anything Kid Rock has to say. Or Eminem on a Kid Rock song, for that matter.
