EXCLUSIVE: Nicki Minaj’s Own Lawyers Can’t Get Papers Into Her Hands After Three Visits

Nicki Minaj‘s own lawyers sent a process server to her last known home three times without getting their withdrawal papers into her hands, according to a new court filing in her $275,149.62 Jingle Ball dispute.

The visits ended with nobody coming downstairs, word that the rapper was away and another report that she was unavailable.

Her attorneys now want the court to let them leave the case despite the failed attempts at in-person delivery.

Attorney Bruce W. Bieber laid out the efforts in an affirmation filed in New York County Supreme Court.

His firm, Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever, represents Nicki, legally identified as Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, and Pink Friday Productions LLC against 24/7 Productions (USA) Inc.

The papers concerned her lawyers’ request to withdraw from that existing lawsuit.

Bieber said the firm hired Nicoletti & Harris to arrange hand delivery after an October 27 order required several forms of service.

The first visit came October 29. According to Bieber’s account of an email from the process-serving company, the concierge had been told someone would come down to accept the papers.

That did not happen. Bieber wrote that “somebody would come downstairs (for purposes of accepting the papers), but nobody came down.”

The server returned October 30 and was told Nicki was not home, although her husband was there. Bieber said the update also reported “that Minaj and her husband have a tendency of not answering their phones.”

A third visit on November 2 ended with word that Nicki was unavailable. No further information was provided, according to the filing.

Her lawyers nevertheless argued that she knew about their effort to leave. Bieber said he emailed the papers October 28 and the firm sent them by certified mail and FedEx October 29.

“KECL has done everything within its power to effectuate in-hand service upon [Nicki Minaj],” he wrote.

Bieber also asserted that Nicki and her company had received several copies and knew about the withdrawal request.

The failed visits followed the firm’s October 23 request to withdraw. Bieber previously cited disagreements over legal strategy and a breakdown in communication.

The underlying lawsuit concerned production work for Nicki’s December 2023 Jingle Ball appearances and New York promotion for Pink Friday 2. 24/7 sought $275,149.62, plus interest and court costs.

The dispute also included a $103,730 Langham New York hotel bill, with a suite priced at $9,500 a night for seven nights.

Nicki’s team contested the demand. In July, her lawyers said the hospitality spending had been approved and Pink Friday Productions had paid the bills. They also challenged the attempt to hold her personally responsible for company debts.

AllHipHop previously reported that Judge Leslie A. Stroth paused proceedings and set a December 1 hearing at 10 A.M. on the firm’s withdrawal request. Answering papers were due November 12, with replies due November 23.

In the new filing, Bieber again asked for permission to withdraw and time for Nicki and Pink Friday Productions to hire replacement counsel.
