EXCLUSIVE: T.I. Trial Pushed To 2027 Despite Sabrina Peterson’s Plea To Move On

T.I. and Sabrina Peterson are headed to trial on January 26, 2027, after a federal judge moved the court date despite her plea to avoid carrying their legal fight into another year.

U.S. District Judge Fernando M. Olguin granted T.I.’s request to postpone the trial, despite Peterson opposing the move from the December 8, 2026 date.

The case is T.I.’s federal defamation lawsuit against Peterson, filed in December 2024. He accused her of damaging his reputation with September 2024 Instagram posts claiming he was under federal investigation for sex trafficking.

T.I. said that claim was false.

Their dispute began years before T.I. filed this federal case. In January 2021, Peterson accused him of putting a gun to her head. T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, denied the allegation. Peterson sued them in California state court in March over their public responses.

An appeals court struck several of her claims in June 2023. A judge later awarded the couple $96,700 in attorney’s fees. Those proceedings were separate from the federal lawsuit now headed toward the January trial.

Peterson also brought counterclaims in the federal case. Her emotional distress claim became the subject of a June 2026 dismissal motion from T.I., who challenged her account of a July 6, 2025 Instagram video.

She viewed the post as a threat aimed at her. His team argued that the video neither named nor tagged her.

Peterson said the cost of the fight was growing and she wanted it resolved.

“Mr. Harris and I have been litigating, in totality, since 2021, for over 5 (five) years, and I am ready to move on with my life. I do not want to take the expense, stress, anxiety and hardship of continued litigation into 2027,” she explained.

She said she had already spent money serving subpoenas for the December trial and would face another round of expenses if the date changed.

“As a single mother, I cannot afford any unnecessary additional expenses,” Peterson wrote.

Judge Olguin’s new schedule requires the parties to submit witness lists and other trial materials in December.

The final pretrial conference is set for January 8, 2027, with trial scheduled to begin January 26 at 9 A.M.
