Fat Joe Turns Tiny Desk Into A Bronx Reunion With Remy Ma And Jadakiss

Fat Joe turned NPR’s Tiny Desk into a Bronx reunion, bringing Remy Ma, Jadakiss, Stove God Cooks, Stevie Mackey and Dre into the room for a career-spanning set released Thursday (November 5).

The Bronx veteran did not walk into NPR headquarters looking for a quiet victory lap. He said he wanted to “touch the third rail,” and the performance kept that promise by moving between records from his early years, Terror Squad staples and material from his latest album, Organized Rhyme.

The show opened with “Million Dollar Intro” before Remy Ma joined Joe for “Cocababy.” From there, he moved through “(Ha Ha) Slow Down” and “I Shot Ya,” then made room for Jadakiss on “New York.” Stove God Cooks, Jadakiss and Remy Ma all returned for “The Aroma,” giving the middle of the set the loose, crowded energy of a New York posse cut instead of a museum piece.

That approach fit the point of the performance. NPR framed the concert around Joe’s loyalty and longevity, and the guest list backed that up. Remy Ma was not brought in for one quick cameo. She stayed central to the final stretch, helping Joe close with “Lean Back” and “All the Way Up,” two records that came from different phases of his career but still land as shared New York anthems.

The live band included music director Zo Harris on keys, Ricky “Strings” Ramos on guitar, Keithan Foster on bass and Antwan “Amadeaus” Thompson on drums. Ted Smooth handled DJ duties, while Dre, one half of Cool & Dre, added background vocals.

The set also gave Joe a compact way to revisit Organized Rhyme, the 12-track album he released in August. Apple Music describes the project as a reunion of Joe’s Bronx-tested delivery and Cool & Dre’s polished production. The album arrived during a year in which Joe also kept building his “Joe and Jada” podcast with Jadakiss, giving their Tiny Desk appearance another layer beyond the old records.

This was Fat Joe’s second Tiny Desk appearance, but his first inside NPR’s office. His 2021 Tiny Desk (Home) performance was filmed at his UP NYC sneaker store during the remote-concert era. Five years later, he came back with a bigger cast and a sharper idea: the catalog matters, but so do the people who helped him build it.
