Yaya Mayweather was ordered to pay more than $50 million after a Texas court ruled against Floyd Mayweather’s daughter over the 2020 stabbing of a woman during a confrontation connected to NBA YoungBoy.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a Texas judge awarded Lapattra Jacobs $40,105,000 in compensatory damages plus another $10 million in exemplary damages stemming from the violent encounter.
The massive judgment adds a costly civil consequence to a case that previously resulted in Mayweather pleading guilty to felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Court records cited by TMZ show more than $8 million was awarded for past damages covering medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment, lost earning capacity and disfigurement.
Jacobs was awarded another $32 million for future damages in those categories.
The court added $10 million in exemplary damages after finding Mayweather’s actions involved “an extreme degree of risk” and “constituted aggravated assault involving the use of a deadly weapon.”
The dispute dates back to April 2020 when authorities responded to a confrontation at NBA YoungBoy’s Texas residence.
Police said Mayweather attacked Jacobs with two knives during an altercation. Jacobs was discovered on the floor and transported to a hospital for treatment.
NBA YoungBoy was reportedly at the residence when the stabbing occurred.
Mayweather was arrested following the incident and later pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was ultimately sentenced to six years of probation.
The criminal resolution did not end the legal fallout.
Jacobs pursued a civil case alleging that the stabbing caused extensive injuries including permanent loss of function in her arm. Her lawsuit initially included NBA YoungBoy as a defendant, although the claims against the rapper did not proceed to trial.
The resulting judgment against Mayweather now exceeds $50 million when compensatory and exemplary damages are combined.
Mayweather is the daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, but the enormous award is tied solely to her own conduct in the 2020 confrontation.
