Flyysoulja Revises Overdose Account, Citing Drug-Induced Psychosis

Flyysoulja says his October 29 hospitalization was caused by drug-induced psychosis, not an overdose, correcting the account he gave after leaving a Miami trauma unit.

The Island Boys member, whose legal name is Alex Venegas, told TMZ that doctors reached the psychosis diagnosis. He had previously said a combination of cocaine, benzodiazepines and Percocet caused an overdose during a celebration for a new condominium and car.

Venegas spent four days in the hospital and was released on November 2. Venegas provided the new explanation. It changes the cause he gave for the emergency, not the fact that he received treatment.

The correction also fits a longer pattern of substance-related crises that Venegas has discussed publicly. In January, he said he was entering detox after another psychotic episode and wanted to take treatment more seriously.

“I’m going to detox right now to get the help I need. I can’t wait. I’ve been here before,” he said at the time.

That January step followed a November 2025 incident at his home. Venegas said he had taken several substances before damaging the property while broadcasting without realizing it.

“In the psychosis, I was trying to find something for my hair for hours, and destroyed the home while unknowingly being on Live,” he said after that episode.

He also drew a line between addiction and a lasting mental-health diagnosis, saying then that he had a substance problem. His latest account again links the episode to drug use while changing the medical label he originally attached to the October hospitalization.

The correction arrived days after a separate legal problem. Local 10 reported that Venegas was arrested November 2 on a petty-theft charge tied to an alleged March incident at a Hallandale Beach Walgreens.

Police accused him of leaving with $75.45 in merchandise. He posted bond, and the court has not yet decided the case.

AllHipHop’s November 2 report reflected Venegas’ first account. His new statement now replaces “overdose” with drug-induced psychosis as his explanation for why he spent four days receiving care.
