Gallant Groom blows them away by 19 lengths

GALLANT Groom made amends for his debut second place finish by destroying his rivals by 19 lengths in a Restricted Stakes event at Caymanas Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The four-year-old, American-bred, dark bay/brown colt — trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Tevin Foster — was hustled to the lead from the off in the 6½-furlong (1,300m) contest. The Golden Lad offspring led comfortably down the backstretch ahead of The Leviticus (Shaheem Gordon) and Fidelity (Calvin Bailey). Going into the half-mile turn Gallant Groom began to increase his advantage, and by the time the field turned for home he was already long gone. He stopped the clock in an impressive 1:19.1 with splits of 23.3 x 48.0 x 1:13.0. Unbelievable Power (Tyrese Anderson) ran on for second while Comuna Trece (Bebeto Harvey) was third. — Ruddy Allen
