GloRilla Renews Steelers Anthem Pledge

GloRilla still wants to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a song of their own, and she renewed that pledge ahead of her upcoming Pittsburgh concert.

The Memphis rapper told Pittsburgh City Paper she planned to follow through on an anthem for her favorite NFL team.

“I keep saying I’m going to do it, but I am,” she said. “I need to shout out the Steelers.”

Her loyalty dates to age 3. She said her father told her that her grandmother, who died before GloRilla was born, also supported the team.

The song idea has been around for a while. In April 2024, SteelerNation reported that she discussed making a Steelers record on “The Pivot.” She pointed to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black And Yellow” as the model and stressed that she wanted to find the right song.

That comparison comes with some real Pittsburgh history.

Wiz Khalifa performed “Black And Yellow” before the Steelers’ January 2011 AFC Championship game against the New York Jets, where he joined actor Billy Gardell for the Terrible Towel Twirl before kickoff.

As for GloRilla, she is working with the NFL’s “NFL City Life,” which paired the Memphis rapper with receiver George Pickens in Pittsburgh to document her support for the team.

Her next trip includes a concert. Live Nation lists her at Citizens Live at The Wylie on Monday, November 2 at 8 P.M., her first Pittsburgh headlining show. She told City Paper she planned to attend the Steelers’ home game the day before her show.

Outside of football, she has also been building GloVerse, her beauty-tech venture. The platform connects clients with beauty professionals, a business she developed after struggling to find glam services while traveling.
