KINGSTON, Jamaica — St George’s College have launched a fundraising appeal to help cover the cost of corrective shoulder surgery for injured goalkeeper Jain Singh, with the procedure expected to cost approximately $2 million.
The appeal, initiated by the St George’s College Old Boys Association through a GoFundMe campaign, is aimed at helping Singh’s family raise the funds needed to have the surgery done as soon as possible.
According to St George’s head coach Andrew Price, the decision to launch the fundraiser followed consultations with an orthopaedic surgeon, who determined that Singh requires corrective surgery for his shoulder injury.
“After doing consultation with the orthopaedic surgeon, it was revealed that Jain has to do corrective surgery for his shoulder. And the surgery is amounting to approximately $2 million Jamaican dollars,” Price said.
“So, the St George’s College Old Boys Association started a GoFundMe to assist his family in getting the much-needed funds to actually do the surgery,” Price said.
The coach stressed the importance of securing the money quickly so that Singh can undergo the necessary procedure without unnecessary delay.
Singh sustained the shoulder injury during St George’s College’s Manning Cup encounter against Kingston College, which ended in a 3-0 defeat.
While Singh was being transported to the hospital, the ambulance was controversially recalled to the venue with the injured goalkeeper, and he was taken to hospital by a past student.

The fundraising effort is now seeking support from the school’s extended community and well-wishers to help Singh access the surgery he requires.
