Halle Berry Defeats Ex-Husband’s Restraining Order Request

Halle Berry defeated ex-husband Olivier Martinez’s restraining-order request in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 29, according to Page Six.

Judge Shelley Kaufman dissolved the temporary order and denied his domestic violence restraining-order request involving their son, Maceo.

Berry denied abuse allegations. Her attorney, Marina Beck, told the outlet, “We are extremely pleased that the Court has dissolved the TRO.” Beck said Berry would keep her focus on her family’s best interests as the case moved forward.

Martinez’s attorney did not immediately respond to Page Six.

The fight followed years of negotiations over how the former couple would raise their son after their marriage ended. They married in July 2013 and split in October 2015. The pair became legally single in 2016, but their finances and custody terms were still unresolved.

A settlement in August 2023 addressed both issues, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. Their agreement gave both parents legal and physical custody, with time during the week and alternating weekends.

Berry was ordered to send Martinez $8,000 a month in child support. The terms also called for an extra 4.3 percent of income she earned above $2 million. She was responsible for their son’s tuition, extracurricular costs and health insurance as well.

By May 2024, the parents had agreed to bring in help for their co-parenting disputes. Another filing reviewed by Us Weekly outlined a coaching plan with a psychiatrist who worked with adults and children.

The plan called for each parent to meet with the doctor separately before attending at least six joint sessions. Those shared appointments were to take place by June 14, 2024. If the sessions helped, the pair could continue together for up to a year.

The doctor would set the sessions’ format, length and frequency. Van Hunt, Berry’s partner, was allowed to take part under the agreement.

Berry also has a daughter, Nahla, with former partner Gabriel Aubry. AllHipHop previously covered a reduction in the child support she paid Aubry, a separate arrangement involving her daughter’s father.

The custody arrangement under the temporary order remained in effect pending another hearing, Page Six reported.
