Hernandez Govan Pleads Guilty & Faces Prison For Harassment After Young Dolph Aquittal

Hernandez Govan just took a guilty plea in federal court on the cyberstalking charges that landed him back behind bars less than a year after walking free from a murder trial.

The Memphis man admitted to the federal harassment case on September 16, closing out what prosecutors say was a campaign of threats and intimidation that started in early June.

According to court records, Govan sent threatening messages and voicemails to a woman, promised to have someone shoot up her house, and threatened to post explicit images of her online while claiming he was “bigger than the devil.”

That last part is key because prosecutors used it to paint a picture of his mindset during the whole ordeal.

The situation traces back to a domestic dispute that erupted on June 4, when the woman reported the harassment to Memphis police.

State authorities moved fast, issuing a warrant on June 10 and taking him into custody the next day on misdemeanor stalking and harassment charges.

He posted a $4,000 bond and got out on June 12, but federal prosecutors weren’t done with him.

That same day he bonded out, federal authorities filed their own warrant, and by June 15, FBI agents had him back in custody, where he’s been locked up since.

According to Local Memphis, the guilty plea means he’s avoiding a trial and could face up to two years in prison depending on sentencing.

The backdrop here is wild because Govan was acquitted in August 2025 of orchestrating the November 2021 murder of rapper Young Dolph outside a Memphis bakery.

Prosecutors had argued he was the mastermind who hired the shooters and arranged payment for the hit, but after jury deliberation, he walked free on both first-degree murder and conspiracy charges.

Now he’s facing federal time for something completely separate.

The actual shooters in Young Dolph’s death were Justin Johnson, who was convicted and sentenced to life plus 35 years, and Cornelius Smith, who pleaded guilty and got 20 years.
Sentencing is set for November 22, 2026.
