Entertainer Mr Vegas, real name Clifford Roy Smith, has expressed being humbled by the national honour, the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer, which was conferred on him Monday by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.
The honour was conferred during the 2026 Ceremony of Investiture and Presentation of National Honours and Awards at King’s House, the Governor General’s official residence.
The Heads High singer was recognised for his decades-long contributions to reggae and dancehall music.
“This is just a reflective time for me because I have never dreamt of really being here collecting such a prestigious award,” Vegas said during rehearsals at King’s House ahead of Monday morning’s ceremony.
