WASHINGTON, USA — IDB Invest will provide financing of up to $20 million to Ovobrand S.A., an Argentine company dedicated to the production and processing of eggs and egg products, to support the development of a new production complex in Buenos Aires Province and accompany the expansion and modernisation of its operations.
The investment will expand Ovobrand’s production and processing capacity, and advance the development of higher-value-added products, including liquid and powdered egg products. The project will help strengthen the industrialisation of Argentina’s agrifood value chain, generate formal employment, deepen links with local suppliers, and enhance the company’s ability to compete in international markets.
The financing consists of a loan of up to $20 million, including a committed tranche of $10 million and an uncommitted tranche of up to $10 million for future capital investments. The resources will be used to increase production capacity, upgrade existing facilities, acquire equipment, and support investments related to a biogas plant integrated into the production complex.
“Adding value to what Argentina already produces is one of the most direct ways to generate more investment, jobs, and exports. Ovobrand’s investment moves in that direction by expanding capacity, incorporating technology, and transforming agricultural production into higher-value-added products with export potential. At the IDB Group, we want to support Argentine companies that are committed to growing, modernising, and competing in international markets,” said Viviana Alva Hart, IDB Group Representative in Argentina.
In addition to financing, IDB Invest will support Ovobrand in strengthening its environmental, social, and corporate governance practices. The operation also includes technical assistance aimed at deepening initiatives the company is already advancing in digital transformation, talent development, and opportunities for women within the organisation. IDB Invest will also work with the company to continue strengthening animal welfare practices and operational efficiency.
