Janelle Monáe, Lizzo & Maino Deliver Standout Halloween Looks

Halloween stopped being just for children and the Comic-Con crowd a long time ago. These days, everybody wants in, and celebrities have turned the holiday into an unofficial competition of creativity, comedy and who has entirely too much money to spend on a costume.

This year brought plenty of all three. From Maino’s impersonation of 50 Cent to Janelle Monáe’s hyperrealistic monster creation and Lizzo’s homage to the late, great Dolly Parton, the looks gave fans plenty to laugh at, admire and debate. Some went for nostalgia. Others went for shock value. And a few clearly had professional teams working overtime.

But underneath the makeup, masks and elaborate reveals, Halloween offers something people could use right now: a little relief.

Look around. Between the headlines, the bills, the political chaos and the everyday pressure of keeping your life together, reality already feels like a dysfunctional dystopian movie. At least on Halloween, we get to choose our monsters.

For one night, people can trade their problems for a costume, get a little ridiculous and remember that having fun is still allowed. The world doesn’t stop being messy, but there’s something refreshing about watching people put this much effort into making each other smile.

Here are some of the best celebrity Halloween looks of 2026.
