Jay-Z Confirms Himself For Super Bowl Halftime Show At SoFi Stadium

Jay-Z will get his own turn on the Super Bowl halftime stage after years of helping other stars put their shows together.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday that he will headline Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

It will be his first Super Bowl halftime performance. His company has worked on the show since 2019, but the rapper had yet to take that stage himself.

“Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true,” Jay-Z said.

The announcement settled a question that had followed him into his recent Los Angeles concerts.

Earlier reports pointed to Jay-Z as the pick, but the NFL and Roc Nation had not confirmed those reports at the time.

He had already explained why he waited. During a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jay-Z said,

“I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early.” He added, “Maybe one year.”

Those comments came at the premiere of “The Book of Clarence,” as Usher prepared to perform at that year’s game.

Roc Nation had helped bring acts including Rihanna and The Weeknd to halftime while its founder stayed behind the scenes.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said his initial agreement with Roc Nation came with a request that Jay-Z eventually perform when he felt ready.

The booking now puts the company’s founder in the same headlining role it has helped other artists fill.

Hip-Hop had a large presence the last time the game came to the Los Angeles area.

The 2022 halftime show featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, with appearances by 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.

The new date also extends a busy stretch built around his catalog. This year’s concerts celebrated 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint.

The run took him to Yankee Stadium, London and Paris before his October 23 and 24 shows at SoFi.

He will return to that same venue for the Super Bowl less than four months after those concerts.
