Jay-Z is expanding Roc Nation’s Asian footprint after signing Hong Kong superstar Jackson Wang to a global management agreement.
The partnership connects one of Asia’s most internationally recognized performers with Jay-Z’s entertainment company as its founder increases his financial exposure across the region.
Wang celebrated the agreement by releasing “Thank You,” a new single accompanied by a black-and-white visual he co-directed with Ojun Kwon.
“I don’t need a middle person or a filter standing between me and my fans,” Wang wrote on Instagram. “Because from day one, it has always been about me and my fans. I want to make sure my fans know as much as possible about who I am and what I am as a human being. There shouldn’t be guessing. There shouldn’t be assumptions.”
The video was filmed using an iPhone 18 Pro and featured 30 supporters selected after fans from more than 80 countries applied.
Wang, 32, first gained international recognition as a member of GOT7 before establishing Team Wang Records and developing a successful solo career.
The former Junior Olympic-level saber fencer has also built businesses spanning music, fashion, creative direction and live entertainment throughout Asia and Western markets.
“That competitive fire still burns through everything he touches,” Roc Nation said. “It’s the spirit of someone who refuses categories: athlete, artist, entrepreneur, creative director. And there’s no indication he’s stopping anytime soon.”
The agreement gives Jay-Z a major cultural partner while his investment operation builds a much larger commercial presence within Asia.
His famous declaration, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man,” now describes an empire increasingly connecting entertainment, consumer brands and private equity.
As AllHipHop previously reported, MarcyPen Capital Partners partnered with Hanwha Asset Management to establish MarcyPen Asia, a proposed $500 million growth equity fund.
The vehicle targets established Korean companies across entertainment, beauty, fashion, food, beverages, health, media and sports with potential for international expansion.
MarcyPen, created through the 2024 merger of Marcy Venture Partners and Pendulum Holdings’ investment arm, reportedly manages approximately $1.1 billion in assets.
Jay-Z’s Asian interests also include Indonesian coffee chain Kopi Kenangan, which Roc Nation backed during a 2019 funding round alongside Serena Ventures.
The company now operates more than 1,300 stores and has held preliminary banking discussions about a possible public offering valuing it near $1 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Wang’s arrival gives Roc Nation an established Asian superstar while MarcyPen pursues companies positioned to carry regional culture into global consumer markets.
