Jon Stewart turned Donald Trump’s attention to Nicki Minaj’s backside into material for Monday’s “The Daily Show,” taking aim at the president a day after the rapper joined his Michigan campaign stop.
The host set up the segment around the midterm elections and voters’ concerns about prices, the economy and Iran before showing Trump’s remarks.
“How the fuck is this real?” Stewart asked. He also joked about Trump’s expression as Minaj spoke.
“He’s like Yogi Bear floating towards a pie on a windowsill.”
The comments followed Trump’s Sunday rally in Port Huron, at McMorran Place Arena as Republicans sought votes ahead of the November 3 elections.
Trump brought up Minaj’s body while discussing his remarks about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted. He called her backside “one hell of a beautiful ass” and added, “That’s hard to miss.”
He later said he hoped Minaj hadn’t been insulted and spoke about his affection for her. Nicki Minaj had flown to Michigan with Trump aboard Air Force One.
In an interview with White House communications director Steven Cheung, she explained why she trusted him to handle the economy. She cited his recovery from financial problems as part of her faith in his judgment.
Work habits were another part of her pitch.
“He outworks people who are half his age,” she said. Minaj also praised how he dealt with other countries, tying her support to his approach to business and negotiations.
Onstage, the rapper pledged to keep backing Trump and told him, “If you run again, I will support you again.”
Her immediate appeal focused on two Michigan Republicans: Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James. She urged the crowd to vote for both men and led chants of their names.
The trip added to a run of public appearances that linked Minaj to the administration.
In September, she appeared with Small Business Administration chief Kelly Loeffler during an interview with Laura Ingraham.
Nicki Minaj also served as a judge for the Million Dollar Pitch Competition alongside entrepreneurs Grant Cardone and Joe Gebbia. The contest offered a $1 million prize to a business.
