Justin Timberlake’s Reported “Tell-All” Revisits Janet Jackson Fallout & Britney Spears

Justin Timberlake is reportedly bringing his history with Janet Jackson and Britney Spears to Apple TV in a four-part documentary series set for December.

Variety reported that three sources confirmed the project, which Fisher Stevens is directing. The series was described as a “tell-all,” with Jackson’s 2004 Super Bowl appearance and Spears’ recent comments among the expected topics.

One source said Jackson would discuss the halftime-show incident. Another said Timberlake would address some of Spears’ recent comments, although the report did not identify which remarks. It also did not establish whether Jackson’s contribution would be a new interview or archival material.

Apple and representatives for Timberlake and Jackson declined to comment or did not respond. The project has not been officially announced.

Jackson addressed the Super Bowl fallout herself in her four-hour 2022 documentary, which aired on A&E and Lifetime. During the 2004 performance, Timberlake pulled away part of her costume and exposed her breast. Jackson took a disproportionate share of the backlash.

In that documentary, Jackson described the incident as an accident and said she wanted the public to move forward. She also explained that Timberlake offered to speak out afterward. Jackson said she told him not to because she did not want the controversy directed at him.

Jackson also said she and Timberlake were still very good friends.

“He and I have moved on, and it’s time for everyone else to do the same,” Jackson said.

Their Super Bowl history resurfaced when Timberlake invited her to join his 2018 halftime performance. Jackson declined because she did not want to relive the ordeal.

The renewed attention also follows Timberlake’s 2021 public apology.

AllHipHop previously covered that apology while reporting on a separate documentary about Jackson’s Super Bowl fallout being developed by the filmmakers behind “Framing Britney Spears”.

“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem,” Timberlake wrote in his social media apology.

That earlier Jackson project and the reported Apple series are separate productions.

Timberlake previously worked with Apple on the 2021 film “Palmer”. Last month, he also joined Jay-Z onstage in Paris, a rare appearance after his tour ended in July 2025.
