Kandi Burruss is stepping into “Beyond the Gates” as Kalista Kilroy, a new guest whose arrival gets an awkward welcome from Bill Hamilton in the CBS soap’s weekly teaser.
The Xscape singer will first appear Thursday, October 22, according to Michael Fairman TV. Tabitha Brown will also guest-star that day as Tia Allen. Both women’s names appeared in the closing credits ahead of their planned guest spots.
The promo places Kalista at the country club with Bill, played by Timon Kyle Durrett. “What the hell are you doing here, Kalista?” he asks. Bill is Dani Dupree’s ex-husband and the father of her daughters, Naomi and Chelsea.
Tia conducts an on-camera interview with Dani, played by Karla Mosley. The episode preview describes a celebration of Dani’s life and career disrupted by a surprise guest who reopens old wounds. Naomi, Chelsea and Andre are left to handle the family fallout.
Kalista appears to take part in the interview and calls Bill an “awful husband,” according to Parade. The preview shows him demanding that the interview stop before Dani walks away from the stage.
Over the weekend, Kandi told fans on Instagram, “I can’t wait for you to meet Kalista!” She added, “We’re about to spice things up!”
She encouraged viewers to catch up with the series and said, “I’m so excited to be a part.” The show’s verified Instagram account welcomed her in the comments.
Kandi joins a show that has already welcomed “Real Housewives” personalities Karen Huger, Gizelle Bryant and Wendy Osefo. Kandi and Tabitha also previously shared a scripted-TV home on Showtime’s Chicago-set drama “The Chi,” where Kandi played the mayor’s wife, Roselyn, and Tabitha portrayed interior designer Octavia.
“Beyond the Gates” centers on the wealthy, multigenerational Dupree family in Fairmont Crest, a gated Maryland community near Washington, D.C. Filmed in Atlanta, the drama premiered February 24, 2025, as the first new network soap since “Passions” in 1999. CBS Studios produces it through its NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios.
The hour-long drama, now in its second season, airs weekdays at 2 P.M. Eastern on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
