Kim Kardashian Held At Gunpoint In Uganda, Producer Claims In Biography

Kim Kardashian had a police officer’s gun held to her head during a 2018 trip to Uganda with Kanye West, producer Farnaz Farjam alleged in Jonathan Van Meter’s new biography, “Citizen Kim.”

According to PEOPLE’s account of the book, Farjam said West feared being drugged and police searched rooms. She said she got her crew out on a private jet.

Viking released “Citizen Kim” on October 27. Van Meter, Vibe’s founding editor, told Forbes he spent five years working on the biography after a 2019 profile of Kardashian led him to propose a book about her.

The book drew on visits to her home, time on photo shoots and interviews with people from across her life. Van Meter told The Hollywood Reporter that she could review his manuscript for factual errors. He said she did not bar him from speaking to anyone or place topics off limits.

The couple’s Uganda visit included a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni at State House in Entebbe on October 15, 2018. His office described talks about tourism and investment. They gave Museveni a pair of white sneakers. West also pledged to build a tourism school, according to the president’s office.

The Uganda trip came two years after Kardashian survived an armed robbery in Paris, an attack that changed how she handled her security and public exposure.

In March 2017, AllHipHop reported that she cried on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” over claims that the Paris robbery had been staged. She described the coverage as “really traumatizing.”

In the 2016 robbery, men posing as police forced their way into her Paris lodging, tied her up and took roughly $6 million in jewelry. Kardashian later told a French court that she thought she would die. A Paris court convicted eight defendants and acquitted two in May 2025.

“I learned to be more private,” Kardashian later said. “It’s not worth the risk.” The Associated Press reported that she stopped sharing her location in real time and increased her security.

Van Meter did not interview West for “Citizen Kim.” He told The Hollywood Reporter he had concerns about whether it would be ethical to do so given West’s mental health.
