Kim Kardashian plans to retake the California bar exam. She will wait until she can give the test her full attention.
Kardashian shared the update at the New York City premiere of “All’s Fair” season 2. She told People she does not want to fit another try into a packed work slate.
“I’m going to take my time and wait until the moment is right, when I have some free time to focus on it,” Kardashian said.
She gave no date for a new attempt. Kardashian has not passed the California bar. She is not a licensed attorney and did not say she is studying for a set exam date.
She revealed in November 2025 that she had not passed the July exam. “I’m not a lawyer yet,” she wrote then. The new comments came almost a year later.
Her path to the full bar has played out in public. She began a California law office study track in 2018 rather than going to law school. She passed the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, known as the “baby bar,” on her fourth try in 2021.
ABC News said she finished the Law Office Study Program in May 2025 after six years of study.
Her goal grew out of her work on criminal justice cases. ABC News tied her interest in law to Alice Marie Johnson’s case. Johnson had been serving a life term for a nonviolent drug crime.
Her sentence was commuted in 2018 after Kardashian and others pushed for her release. That work helps explain why the bar remains more than a TV role for Kardashian.
Work and family also shape the timing. Entertainment Weekly said Kardashian is now balancing “All’s Fair,” a new season of “The Kardashians,” a planned film, SKIMS and life with her four children.
The list helps explain why she wants a clear block of study time before she tries again.
On “All’s Fair,” Kardashian plays divorce lawyer Allura Grant. Offscreen, her own path is not done. Season 2 starts Wednesday (November 4) on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
Her next step is still a plan, not a date. She says she will try again when she has time to focus. Until she names an exam cycle, no retake date has been announced.
