Kim Kardashian admitted the first wave of All’s Fair reviews rattled her enough to wonder if she had damaged her acting career for good.
The reality star and entrepreneur is back as divorce lawyer Allura Grant in the Hulu drama’s second season. She said the harsh response to season one briefly left her worried that her veteran co-stars would blame her for the backlash.
“There was a second when I thought, ‘Oh my God, my career is over,'” Kardashian said while promoting the new season.
That fear did not last. Kardashian said Sarah Paulson left her a supportive voicemail that restored her confidence. Her answer after hearing it was simple: “Okay, what do I do? We double down.”
The first season earned a brutal response from critics, but viewers kept watching. The attention helped All’s Fair hold a top spot on Hulu before the series secured a second-season renewal.
That split became part of the show’s story. Critics gave season one a 6 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience still pushed the series to the top of Hulu’s chart. Kardashian now sees that gap as proof that reviews did not get the final word.
Kardashian also struck a modest note during an appearance on The View.
She said creator Ryan Murphy was “setting me up for success by surrounding me with the best of the best actors.” Naomi Watts rejected the idea that Kardashian hid behind the cast, while Niecy Nash-Betts told her, “You brought your A-game, baby!”
Season two brings back Glenn Close, Paulson, Watts, Teyana Taylor and Nash-Betts. The first three episodes began streaming on Hulu this week, with new installments set to arrive weekly.
Paulson said Kardashian reached another level late in the new season. She pointed to more confidence and humor in the performance. Watts also said Kardashian grew on set and started adding her own lines. Their comments gave Kardashian an answer to the idea that she was only leaning on the ensemble.
The show is even making room for Kardashian to laugh at herself. A new scene has Allura admit she failed the bar exam on her first try, a nod to Kardashian’s own legal path. Kardashian retook California’s bar exam in July after falling short in 2025.
For now, Kardashian is answering the worst reviews of her acting career with another season, a bigger swing and the backing of the women beside her.
