Kim Kardashian says life after Kanye West felt great as she gave herself time to heal before opening her heart to someone new.
In her new interview with The Times, the mother of four says she had no urge to fill the space her marriage left behind.
“I was really single for five years. And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush,” she said.
“Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up.”
Her account of those five years includes time spent dating, with Pete Davidson and later Odell Beckham Jr. appearing in her postmarriage timeline.
Kardashian and Kanye began dating in 2012 and wed in Italy in May 2014 before their split became a bitter public fight. They share four children: daughters North and Chicago and sons Saint and Psalm, whose care became a key issue in their divorce.
She filed in February 2021 and became legally single in March 2022, while the pair still had custody and money terms to resolve. Their November 2022 settlement set joint custody and required Kanye to pay $200,000 each month in child support, with neither owed spousal support.
Kardashian dated Davidson from fall 2021 through August 2022, but Kanye made their romance a target of his songs and social media posts. His March 2022 video for “Eazy” showed an animated Davidson being kidnapped and buried, released the day a judge declared Kardashian legally single.
After the pair broke up, Kanye posted a mock newspaper on Instagram with the headline “SKETE DAVIDSON DEAD AT AGE 28.”
Kanye defended the video’s imagery in an Instagram statement that denied his work served as a stand-in for harm toward anyone.
“Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm. Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended,” he wrote.
He later apologized for causing Kardashian stress during a September 2022 ABC News interview that also explored their clashes over raising the children.
Kanye moved on with Yeezy architectural designer Bianca Censori, with a marriage license obtained by the Daily Mail listing their wedding as December 20, 2022.
Kardashian was later linked to NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. in September 2023, though People reported their romance had ended by April 2024.
Her current partner is Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, a longtime friend who began appearing alongside her amid romance reports early this year. The pair attended February’s Super Bowl together and were later photographed kissing in Malibu, moving their relationship further into public view.
Kardashian shared a photo and video of a New York bike ride with Hamilton on Instagram in June 2026.
