Krayzie Bone’s Youth Foundation To Benefit From Ohio Hip Hop Awards Reunion

Krayzie Bone‘s push to help young people find work in music will get support from a Cleveland reunion this weekend. The Ohio Hip Hop Awards will mark its 20th anniversary with a dinner that will raise money for his Spread the Love Foundation and DJ Johnny O’s Nerve DJ Institute.

The event is set for Sunday, November 1, at Music Box Supper Club, 1148 Main Avenue in Cleveland. Doors and the red carpet open at 4 p.m., and the main program starts at 6 P.M.

Organizers say a portion of the proceeds will go to each nonprofit. Spread the Love focuses on youth career training and arts education. The Nerve DJ Institute helps aspiring DJs and other young music professionals build skills through training and mentorship.

For Krayzie, that work has already reached young people in detention. As AllHipHop previously reported, his foundation brought its Interest 2 Income program to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, teaching participants about music careers and creative work.

The foundation’s program goes beyond trying to make students the next star onstage. Its youth track serves ages 13 to 17 and introduces the business and creative jobs that keep music moving.

The foundation lists sound engineering, audio production and songwriting among the skills taught through its work at the county’s juvenile justice center.

That training has led to finished music. The county reported that eight detention center residents graduated from the program’s introductory course on October 18, 2024. They performed songs they had written and recorded, along with a group song, while family members watched.

The course covered money skills, entrepreneurship and personal growth.

Sunday’s dinner will also look back at Ohio’s music scene. The board announced that the Ohio Hip Hop Awards began in 2006 and ran through 2017. Organizers plan to show previously unseen clips, share backstage stories and revisit memories from the OHHA Showcase Tour.

Shugabooga will host the event, with music from DJ Iceburg Pimpin’.

Reserved tickets cost $25, $50 and $100, according to the venue’s official event listing. Guests are asked to wear chic cocktail attire.
